Children with learning disorders often have difficulty learning reading or mathematics or demonstrate written expression that is significantly below what would be expected for the child’s age, level of schooling, and IQ. Learning disorders are different from learning difficulties caused by poor teaching, cultural factors, or lack of opportunity and commonly occur in individuals with disorders of conduct, attention deficit, or depression.
Children often develop a delirium from high fevers and certain medicines. A delirium waxes and wanes over several hours, but it may continue for several weeks as the illness or toxic drug state that causes it improves or worsens. Symptoms of the bizarre behavior and confused mental state become more or less normal over time as the treatment of the illness or of the toxic drug takes effect.
